Is all public domain music royalty free?
Furthermore, if I want to make instrumental arrangements of old music from over a hundred years ago, how do I make sure that the music is public domain, and royalty free? If I want to arrange Japanese, Chinese or Indian folk songs, how can I be sure that I am allowed? Is there any place I can go to find this out?
That IS the definition of “public domain”; anyone can use it, for free.
