This guitar based Alternative Rock music is different from heavy metal or hard rock, in as much as the music is more emotional and more melody oriented, as opposed to the more riff based heavy rock genres. Alternative Rock, closely affiliated with the style Brit-Rock, has had a resurgence in the last few years especially represented by bands like U2, Kings of Leon and many others.
