Can i post videos/music from the public domain on youtube, or file sharing websites?
like can i take 3 stooges or old music and post it on youtube/ sites like megaupload.com?
i mean like pre-1930s
and what i got the idea was i could have sworn i had seen home made dvds forsale on ebay of very old movies and i think 3 stooges, i figured it would have been removed if it was illegal
Where do you get the idea that the Stooges and old music are in the public domain? Besides… what do you mean by “old” music? To some people, music of the 70′s is old while others think music from the 20′s is old.
Besides, with movies like “Gone With the Wind” (1939) and stuff by W.C. Fields (1925) still covered by copyrights… what sort of public domain stuff could you be thinking?
She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain (1899) and the music to Auld Lang Syne (1711) are public domain.
