How to copyright music?
How do you get your song copyrighted for free? And I don’t want the answers about mailing it to yourself
The Copyright Office is a part of the Library of Congress. You can download all the required forms and pamphlets for free. You can even call them and they will answer your questions on the phone for free. Getting your stuff registered with the copyright office is pretty easy and isn’t expensive. Just read up on it on the website, fill in your forms, and mail them with your check to register. You’ll eventually hear back from the Copyright Office with proof that your stuff is copyright.
There is a small amount that you have to pay to register your copyright. If you don’t want to register it, you don’t have to. All you have to do it put Copyright 2007 Your Name on your stuff when it’s printed. Copyright is automatic and you don’t have to have it registered, but it’s not a bad idea to register and it doesn’t cost much.

Don't feel too bad… we all have to exercise restraint when dealing with people who probably should know better. But remember – this forum is pretty much "policed" by the regular contributors. The object of the forum is to ask intelligent (and sometimes not so intelligent) questions and receive knowledgeable and thought provoking answers – ABOUT CLASSICAL MUSIC.
Not musicals or soundtracks – classical music.
Sometimes correction may come across "snobbish" but that is usually due to the frustration of the answerer. The object for most of us to promote the cause of classical music, even if at times that we must comment on the likes of Eminem (LOL).
You appear to be a knowledgeable and helpful contributor making a great contribution – keep it up. Just remember – at times it can work your nerves.
