youtube copyright infringement (UMG) but song isn’t released yet?
Ok so this song got leaked.. everybody had it all over the free download websites and everything.. about a month later all the links taken down and no one had the song.. I uploaded it to YouTube and Universal Music Group blocked it for copyright infringement. the song was never officially released. How do you know that it’s actually copyrighted? As far as i know it was just recorded in a studio.. Is there any proof of copyright is my basic question?
I have this problem all the time with my videos and WMG.
The thing is that youtube has a feature called content ID tags. What this does is it scans your videos for the slightest hint of copyrighted material and then it is logged; somehow UMG and WMG, get this logs very quickly because within a few hours your video can be muted or disabled; I am lucky enough that some of my videos that were muted due to WMG claiming copyright have been unmuted.
This is unlikely to be overturned although you can try to dispute the claim, although it’s not really worth it. If you really want to upload the video then upload it to vidilife or some site like that, (myspace and viddler are two other options but myspace can suspend your upload priveleges and viddler just don’t upload it at all.)
